Economy Outlook: Business Tendency Statistics

Recently, the Department of Statistics published Malaysia’s Business Tendency Statistics for the first quarter of 2021. As an overview, this publication presents the business performance expectation for the next three and six months, based on the responses of 631 establishments in various economic sectors.

In addition, this survey results also provide rapid qualitative indicators of the outcome, the current situation and expectation for important economic variables, where quantitative information is not yet available. Hence, this publication presents an early forecast of overall economic activity, covering four major sectors; namely industry, construction, wholesale & retail trade and services.

The Economics Team of Bait Al Amanah has analyzed the latest findings and provided insight to the results of the survey. We hope that the analysis provided will be invaluable to the business community, potential investors, policy makers and the general public.
