“Do the difficult things while they are easy and do the great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”  – Lao Tzu

Life does has surprises in store for everyone. It goes beyond races, religions or regions. For Nepalese, the biggest shock came in the form of natural disaster over two years ago. The ultimate surprise came on 25th April 2015, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake known as the Gorkha devastated Nepal; which resulted in killing nearly 9,000 people and injured almost 22,000 people. This tragedy wrecked every existing structure and destroyed schools and buildings, leaving hundreds of thousands homeless. Up to this date, the journey towards recovery and restoration is still ongoing with the efforts of all the people around the world.

One of the most affected areas is the education field. Nepal is still struggling to retain children in school and providing them the education they need. The hardships in getting the school funded, paying the teachers and getting the books supplies complicates the whole situation.

Coming next month, follow the journey of two volunteers that will provide community service alongside an organization called Nalang Sewa Samaj (NSS). Nalang Sewa Samaj is a registered organization which is affiliated with the Social Welfare Council (SWC) of Nepal. These two volunteers will be stationed at the NSS school in Dhading district. This school is located 3 hours trip by 4-wheel drive from the capital city of Nepal, Kathmandu. The founder of NSS, Saligram Aryal realized that he must do something for this community. He worked hard to get donors around the world to help with the cost of paying the teachers, providing kids sponsorship and also in buying the books and teaching materials.

In the light of having volunteers in this school, they will help with the class teaching and be involved in the community activities. We hope that with this little assistance, it will bring joy to the community, especially the kids.

And Bait Al Amanah, in line with our continuous efforts in making the world a better place for everyone, is proud to be a partner in this noble cause.
